Deck privacy screen

In this DIY video, we show you how to install a privacy screen for an outdoor area.

This split-level deck was recently built in an inner city backyard, but with the neighbours so close on either side, and with the elevated deck position, privacy could be an issue.

To overcome this problem and provide privacy for both properties, timber slat screening was installed on both fences using the Whites Screen Up system.

Simple and easy to set up, the screen features two channels that can be fixed either to the side or the rear. Slats can then be inserted in the channels and separated evenly using spacers to create a tidy look.

Ekodeck composite screening in 2400 x 67 x 15mm lengths, about $11 each, was used for the slats. It comes in a range of colours and looks like timber but it doesn’t need oiling or painting.
